Clocky - Clever PR

March 30, 2007

Clocky

So last night I received an email about a new comment that had been posted:

Hello,

Clocky, the alarm clock that runs away to get you out of bed, received a lot of attention back when he was only a prototype. We have recently launched him commercially and we think your readers may be interested in the story!

Clocky features a customizable snooze time, a sleek new look, and is available in 3 colors. You can find pictures of Clocky and a press release available for download here: http://nandahome.com/nanda.presskit.zip. He is available online for $49.99 USD at nandahome.com and at the MOMA design store in NYC. More retail availability will be announced soon.

Feel free to contact us if you need more info.

Thanks!

I was at Sam’s house, so I told him, “I don’t know if my readers would be interested, but I am!” We got online and looked at their website for the little running clock. I have to admit, I’m sold. The little running alarm clock is the cutest thing.

I  know some people are offended by this kind of advertising, but as an advertising major myself, I think it’s great. Word of mouth is by far the best way the best way to get the word out about anything. And blogs are all about word of mouth. And like I said, I’m sold. If I had $50 extra to spend on an alarm clock, this would be the one.

It’s at least worth a trip to YouTube to see it in action.

Technorati

March 29, 2007

I must be behind the times, because I just yesterday discovered a whole new world - Technorati.  It’s a sort of social networking site for bloggers. I love reading blogs online, hearing about what people all over the world are doing. My favorite part is the watchlist where you can add topics that you are interested in and it pulls up blogs that talk about that subject. I can read about people all over who are making granny squares (my current craft project).

Come check me out at Technorati!

Sites to see - links that make me happy

March 25, 2007
  • It’s a Movie Thing - one of my best friends, Bridgette, runs this site. The site includes all kinds of information about movies - release dates, reviews, quotes, etc. If you knew Bridgette and her DVD collection, you would know that she’s the perfect person to run a site about movies.
  • Threadless - Threadless has the greatest t-shirt designs ever. Whenever I wear shirts I’ve purchased off their site, I always get great compliments and laughs. They have great service and great prices.
  • Cartwheel Crazy - a site all about preschool gymnastics.
  • Musician’s Support - An excellent guide for anyone in the music business. Everything you’d need to know about making a professional press kit.
  • Etsy - It’s eBay for handmade.
  • Gamer Fad - The latest and greatest news in the video game industry.
  • Hair2DayGone2Morrow - Wendy is a hairstylist who wants to share her knowledge with you. Check it out, gain knowledge, save money.
  • Wordpress - My personal blogging choice. Once you get it installed on your site it’s as easy as pie to use!
  • OneWorldsVoice - A place to vent about whatever is on your mind.
  • Vintage Wonder - Vintage clothing and resources. A truly creative site.
  • ljc fyi - One of the first blogs I ever started reading. Jenny is truly inspiring with all of her creativeness.
  • Your Golf Connection - If golf is your thing, this is the site to check out.
  • del.icio.us - Online social bookmarking site.
  • Mustang Resource - More than you would probably ever want to know about Mustang GTs. Great looking cars.
  • Flickr - The best photo sharing site ever.

Jellies!

March 24, 2007
Jellies
Does anyone remember jellies? Jellies played a large role in my childhood. I can still remember running around in my jeweled colored shoes. I used to always get rocks stuck in the heel of them. They may not have been the most comfortable shoes ever, but I still think they’re cute. I didn’t even know they made them anymore, until I stumbled upon this site. I might have to get a pair as an adult to bring back the memories..

Yeah toast!

March 23, 2007

My parents have given us some stuff that they have purchased for our new home. One of my favorite things they gave us was a Pop Art toaster that toasts pictures onto the bread. Our toaster toasts a coffee cup and a sunshine on bread. I can’t wait to use it!

At a yard sale they picked us up a waffle maker that makes waffles in the shape of Bugs Bunny. Our food is going to be the coolest in town.
I had never heard of anything like the Pop Art toaster. You can imagine my surprise when we were shopping at Tuesday Mornings and saw the vast variety of waffle makers and toasters available. I think my favorite is the Pooh waffle maker (”There’s Pooh on your toast!”)
