Best Lotion Ever!

February 29, 2008

Best Lotion Ever!

I’m not much of a lotion girl, but in the winter my hands get dry dry dry. Two of my major beefs with lotions are that they are too scented (giving me a headache) or that make my hands feel too greasy. I’m a tough critic.

This C.O. Bigelow Quince Hand Lotion from Bath and Body Works is the best lotion I’ve ever found. If you know me and the cheapskate that I am when it come to necessities, you know that I am not the type to pay $9 for this little bottle of lotion. But it’s worth it! Worth every penny!

It moisturizes, has a light clean scent and doesn’t feel greasy afterwards. The little bottle fits perfectly into almost any bag. And you only need to use a little at a time, so the bottle lasts forever. I think I had my last one for a couple of years before it bit the dust. I was so excited to buy a replacement last night. My hands were begging for it.

Fun Stuff Around The Web

February 28, 2008

I read a lot of blogs each day through Google Reader. It’s a great way to get exposure to different areas of the world, different types of people, and stuff on the web as well. The following are some interesting sites/things that I’ve found through my blog reader this week:

Not Martha has a tutorial about how to make these awesome bacon cups. I think these would make the cutest appetizers for a party.

Lifehacker has information on how to make your own wrinkle releaser. This is great because although wrinkle releaser rocks, it can get to be costly.

Fontifier is a site I’ve been seeing ALL over the web this week. It’s a site that makes a font out of your handwriting for only $9. I’ve even made my own handwriting font (so easy), just not purchased it yet (a couple of letters I want to change).

A new blog find, How About Orange, has some awesome crafty images and links.

Stuff White People Like - Just as it’s said. Might be a bit offensive to some, but humorous nonetheless.

Also, I’ve recently updated my links page. The links are in no particular order, primarily because I can’t figure how to put them in a particular order. If I’ve missed your link, shoot me a note! :-)

Owl Messenger Bag

One of the current new things I have been loving is (cartoon) owls. I’ve gotten a necklace and a charm with adorable owls on them and searching on Etsy I’ve found something new I want as well. Isn’t this messenger bag by Deadworry just adorable?

There Are Some Bizarre Things on The Internet

February 21, 2008

I recently discovered StumbleUpon. I’ve found some links to really neat things through the toolbar, including a really fun PacMan type game, Pac-xon. I’ve also seen some odd things, like this list of unusual deaths on Wikipedia.

Grapple!

Sam trying a Grapple. That’s right a Grapple - an apple with a slight grape taste. Pretty yummy, but not worth the semi-expensive cost.

Tonight (Monday night) we attended a class about credit as part of the house-buying course that we are going through. While some of the information was common knowledge, there were some things that I found really informative. It’s sad that these real life things aren’t taught in most schools.

I also realized during this class that I just wasn’t raised to use credit. My parents taught me to always make sure I had money to pay for the things I bought (with the exceptions of the obvious: cars and houses) and I’m very thankful for that. I do have a credit card, but I make sure that it’s paid off each month. Barring an emergency, I can’t see myself going outside of that either. I understand that people have to at times, but unless it’s an emergency, it just doesn’t make sense to me to pay hard earned money for interest. But I do understand how easy it would be to fall into a dangerous cycle of credit. I’m very thankful that I haven’t been in that situation.

I’m also thankful that Sam and I have similar feelings when it comes to money for the most part. He’s a bigger saver than I am, but we both feel strongly about having a savings and living within our means. I can totally see how frustrating it would be if we felt differently about money.

Sam’s mom got us some yummy sugar cookies for Valentine’s day. They came in a cute little tin with this label on it. I love how the doodles spell “love.”
