Two For One

March 31, 2008

Today was a two picture worthy day.

Jump For Joy!

As part of my work’s health and wellness program, today was my day to do a jump roping demonstration. I haven’t jumped rope since elementary school! Well I practiced and with the right jump rope it all came back to me. Turns out, jump roping is really a lot more of a workout than I remember and studies show that it is one of the best overall workouts you can do. I’ve really enjoyed jump roping and plan to continue jump roping to get a bit more fitness in my life.

Happy Birthday MIL!

Today is my mother-in-law’s birthday and we (mainly Sam but I helped pick out!) put together this basket for her. She loves Coke stuff and seemed to really like her gift.

It’s Been A Good Shopping Day

It's Been A Good Shopping Day

Click on the photo to see what I got from where and for what price. I got some really great deals today!

It’s been awhile since I’ve had a really good shopping day, where I’ve found some stuff that I like for really good deals. Today was one of those days though. I was able to get a few good work clothes pieces and some books. Yay!

Mattress Shopping

March 29, 2008

Well it’s obvious that awhile back I fell off the picture a day thing. I’m trying again to hop back on so we’ll see how long it lasts!

Mattress Shopping

On a bit of a recap, we settled on an offer for the house, so if home inspections and a couple of other things go through, we will be home owners before May! That’s so crazy to think. I’m trying not to get too bonded to the house in case one of those things does go wrong, but if everything is a go I’ll let you all know more about it!

Anyways, since it’s possible that we might be homeowners here soon, we started shopping today for a new mattress. There’s nothing wrong with our mattress that we got a year ago, except for the fact that we just can’t fit well on a queen bed. Apparently I am a…bit of a bed hog during the night. Just a bit of course. :-) We’ve decided that since we’ll have some extra money from the government this year that we weren’t expecting, it’s time to go ahead and upgrade to a new, king sized mattress. We’re hoping this will help us get a good nights sleep, like we get when we stay in nice king sized hotel beds… Having a nice night’s sleep and waking somewhat rested? That would be AMAZING.

So yes, tonight we started the shopping around process. I hate dealing with the typical salesperson. You know the type. Friendly as can be until you tell them that you’re not going to buy anything right at that moment. We had one of those tonight. Seriously, he only had three minutes he had to be nice until we left the store and we would’ve come back and bought that mattress from him. Would that have been so hard? His loss.

Little Links - Inspirational

I’m thankful I got to see this man’s story on 20/20 tonight. It’s really inspirational to see how he’s dealt with the life God has given him.

Little Links: Delightful

I found a new fun blog today: LlyodAndLauren.com. Look at these adorable little apple pies they made! The cuteness, it’s overwhelming me!!!

The Majesty of House Hunting

March 27, 2008

As some of you know, we started the long long process of looking for a house at the beginning of this year. Last week we finally found a house that we both love and we made an offer on it Tuesday night. I know that this doesn’t necessarily mean that our journey is over, since one of a million things could mean that this house isn’t for us and I’m prepared to accept that if that is the case.

But the waiting to hear back about the offer is killing me! It shouldn’t (because we originally thought the process would take a lot longer than it will) but there is just something about the waiting that makes me antsy. And of course everyone and their brother called me last night. Each phone ring would be followed by a gasp and then directly followed by me telling Sam, “No, it’s not the realtor!”

One gem from our house hunting that I think is just swell.

Purple Mountain Majesty Wall

One house we looked at had this awesome wallpapered wall in the basement that I dubbed the “Purple Mountain Majesty” wall. Unfortunately the rest of the house didn’t live up to the Purple Mountain Majesty wall, so we had to pass.

Attack of the Online Games

March 22, 2008

Online/Computer games are one of those things I can take or leave. I can go for years without giving them a second thought, but very so often I get on a little kick where I’m addicted to them again.

This week has been one of those times the process was this:
Zuma (mentioned on the Epic-Fu podcast)
Chuzzel (which has the cutest little fuzzy characters, really how can you resist?)
Typer Shark (which I used to play years ago but is a lot more fun now that I can type at a faster speed)
Rocket Mania (Bridgette and I used to play this every day we had class in a computer lab in college. It’s so addicting and still fun to play, even though it’s been years since I had even thought about it.)

What are your favorite online/computer games?
