I got my iPod Touch back in June, after a lot of deciding. I set out originally to get a blackberry-esque phone, but after researching it further, I just really felt like a phone probably wouldn’t be able to be used for what I wanted (primarily internet and calendar usage), plus in the long run the extra cost of a plan would end up costing me a considerable amount. The iPod Touch seemed to be like the best alternative for me, so I set off to get one, hoping it would live up to my expectations.

It did. Seriously, my iPod Touch is so useful to me. I use it to check my email so I don’t get on to the timesuck that is the internet. I can check my favorite websites in minutes without booting up my laptop. I have games (yes, I jailbroke it about a week in) that I can play while waiting for a table at restaurants. I can keep up with my calendar and things like birthdays and other reoccurring events. And hey, if I really want to I can listen to music or watch videos on the thing.

Jailbreaking my iPod was one of the best things I did for it, satisfaction wise. Now I have the aforementioned games, can read the lyrics to my favorite songs while listening to them, and I can sync my Google calendar with my iPod calendar.

About 30 minutes into having the iPod Touch I realized just how many fingerprints were going to collect on the outside of it. So, I got this awesome skin for it from DecalGirl. It went on really easy, has a great feel to it, and is removable if I decide to change it. Plus, it came with a code for the matching wallpaper. I enjoy being matchy-matchy.
I love my iPod Touch and it works just right for what I want it for, but there are some drawbacks worth considering if you are thinking of buying your own. Obviously as far as MP3 player costs go, the Touch is pretty expensive. You can get a lot more storage from an iPod Classic for less money. I still have my iPod Video from back in the day and I’m happy that I still have it. It will be great for trips and stuff like that. Also, the keyboard, while effective for the size, does feel a little cramped. I’ve gotten used to it over time though. The internet isn’t the fastest thing ever, which is complained upon on many reviews, but I found it to be pretty satisfactory for what it is.
All in all - I’m really happy the iPod Touch has joined the collection. It still doesn’t have a name though - my last iPod was named iSabella. Any suggestions for this little bugger?
