Halloween 08

My Tivo and I have had a long standing love. I got my Tivo with some Christmas money in Jan. 2005. Since then it’s been full of my favorite shows, always waiting for me when I get home. You can see it’s been well loved by the worn remote control.
About 3 weeks ago my bit the dust unexpectedly. It was fine one day and then the next it was skipping (like a DVD with fingerprints on it) and when I went to restart it, it never came back on. I read online and found it was most likely that the hard drive went out. I was so sad.
My FIL has graciously let us borrow the DVR he uses at the camper for the winter, and while it’s no Tivo, it’s gotten the job done. It’s amazing how much we get used to, like our shows being recorded automatically, lol.
Last night I finally got my procrastinating self on the phone with Tivo to let them know I needed to cancel my service. The person I talked to was really friendly and they offered us a good deal on a dual-tuner 80 hr recorder, which we decided to get. It’s nice when little unexpected things like that happen.
An added bonus, I read today that Netflix is teaming up with Tivo. That could be mighty awesome. With things like Amazon Unboxed, podcasts, and YouTube, Tivo just offers more than other DVRs that I’ve seen.
And besides, you gotta admit the Tivo guy is cute!
One other little fun thing I learned today - if you punch (select, play, select, 3, 0, select) you can advance your Tivo recordings 30 seconds at a time (to skip commericals). Awesome!
Last Saturday Sam (willingly!) took me to the Southern Indiana Fiber Arts Festival! This was our second year going and we loved it. Well, I loved it, but Sam had a good time going too I think. I love seeing all the creativity that is going on in this area. I’m hoping next year to maybe take a class at the festival and learn some more skills myself. The other high point of the festival - we always enjoy seeing the bunnies, sheep and alpacas:
