My final goal for 2008 (besides the obvious things I’m trying to improve about myself every day) is probably the one I’m most apprehensive about. The one I’m least convinced that I can achieve based on habits from the past.
Goal: To lose weight/eat healthier in the new year.
Why: I’ve gained too much weight and I really want to start healthier habits now, because it’s never going to get any easier.
Related Mini-Goals:
- Try to cut out sodas from my every day diet.
- Watch what I eat during the day so I don’t have to limit myself as much when I’m out to dinner.
- Log my food so I can see where my calories/nutrition is coming from.

Good luck with your goals! How are you going to log your foods? Sparkpeople? Fitday? Some other food journaling program?

Hey it’s a good goal - just make sure you’re not so hard on yourself that if you slip up you give up!! Happy New Year!

Denise -
Thanks!
I log my foods at Calorieking. It costs for a membership, which stinks, but I still have a membership from last year so I’m going to make use of it. I think CalorieKing has the best variety of already calculated foods.
I’m not sure where I’ll log when my membership ends.

I think if I tried to eliminate soda from my Diet I would run shrieking into the street in horrific withdrawl.
You are a much braver person than I.

I did one of those projects in my health class where you have to write down everything you eat for about 3 days… It was scary seeing how much I was taking in. But I’m glad that you’re doing this the right way and for the right reasons. =]

Loralee,
I’m not sure I’m so much braver… I had my last soda yesterday morning and by today I was ready to come crawling back from caffeine withdrawl headaches. Thankfully I resisted!

Yeah, it sucks to see how many calories you can eat in just a day. Oooh, scary!

June - Lose Weight Quickly says:
I’ve just finished losing 70 pounds, and man, does that feel good. I still have about 15 pounds that I want to take off, but I’m taking a bit of a break to see how I do at maintenance, which has always been my biggest challenge. I really encourage you to continue with your resolution. I didn’t journal about food, but I did do some meditations and energy work around becoming slim and fit.
