When I got to work today I realized - by the massive amount of dead Mayflies everywhere - that it’s Mayfly season again. Even though I grew up only about 5 minutes away from my current place of employment, I had never seen or heard of Mayflies until I started working here. These are nasty little boogers that die all at once, leaving nasty dead bodies all over EVERYTHING outside. I work right near a river, but I still can’t figure out why I’ve only seen these things here. Anyone else have Mayflies (or Mayfly like things) where they live?

I’ve never seen those before, but anything that leaves a bunch of dead bodies lying around on everything sounds disgusting. I checked out your link to Wikipedia to learn more about them. It said “The mayfly belongs to group 1 taxa, or pollution–sensitive animals. This means if mayflies are in or around the water, the water should be good quality, perhaps even good enough to drink without distilling or boiling.” I find it really hard to believe that the Ohio River is good quality. That makes me doubt anything I’ve ever read on Wikipedia!
